History

Mandt Community Center Inc (MCCI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, was formed 11/23/1992as a joint effort of Stoughton Junior Fair (SJF), Stoughton Youth Hockey Inc (SYH), and many other members of the community. The intent was to build a facility with a community center and ice arena. MCCI board of directors would be in charge of facility operations.

The City of Stoughton was very involved in the planning process – The project had to go through many city committees and also the council itself to be approved. After much work by the volunteers involved with the MCCI, SJF, and SYH, the project was approved.  The facility was up and running in April 1994.

In March 2014, MCCI completed an extensive upgrade project that included:

-        replacing the mechanical portions of the ice making system

-        installing a dehumidification system to help regulate the building climate

-        replacing the glycol (liquid that helps ice to be made)

Stoughton Youth Hockey, Inc and Stoughton Junior Fair have no ownership in the building. The building is owned by the Mandt Community Center, Inc. Both Stoughton Youth Hockey, Inc and Stoughton Junior Fair are key users of the facility.  During the 20 year city ownership period, the facility has been run by an independent board (The Mandt Community Center, Inc Board of Directors) and the city has put no money into operations. All bills and loan payments have been paid by MCCI using funds generated by revenues earned and donations received.
